Cystinosis NFZ — 8 facilities in 6 cities

Cystinosis is a rare lysosomal storage disorder involving cystine accumulation in cells, damaging the kidneys, eyes, muscles, thyroid, and central nervous system. The most common nephropathic form presents with Fanconi syndrome in the first months of life. NFZ funds diagnostics, cysteamine treatment (which slows disease progression), eye drops, and multidisciplinary care.
