Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder caused by deficiency of clotting factor VIII (hemophilia A) or IX (hemophilia B). It presents with prolonged bleeding, joint bleeds, and muscle hemorrhages. The NFZ covers prophylactic and on-demand clotting factor replacement, emicizumab, and gene therapy through drug programs. Patients are treated at specialized hemophilia centers.
