Polyneuropathy is damage to multiple peripheral nerves causing numbness, tingling, pain, and limb weakness. Common causes include diabetes, alcohol, autoimmune diseases, and vitamin deficiencies. The NFZ covers neurological diagnostics including EMG and lab tests, treatment of underlying causes, neuropathic pain pharmacotherapy, and physiotherapy. Immunoglobulin treatment is available for autoimmune polyneuropathies.
